Jaimini Dasa Systems

Parashari planetary periods (vimshottari and others) are planet-based — each mahadasha is ruled by a specific graha for a fixed number of years tied to your Janma Nakshatra. Jaimini dasas are rasi-based or time-based — the mahadasha lord is a sign, or determined by the precise ghatika of birth. They give you a second angle on chart timing and frequently confirm or refine what the Parashari system shows.

DiAstrologer runs the seven main Jaimini dasas: Chara (the main rasi dasa), Sthira-Brahma, Mandooka (frog dasa — skips 2 signs), Shoola (death-timing variant), Yogardha (Chara + Sthira average), Varnada (longevity-focused), and Sandhya-Kala (time-of-birth dasa). Each system reads a different aspect of the chart, so results will differ — that is expected.

The most trustworthy reading is when two or more dasas point at the same theme. Example: if your Parashari marriage period is showing 2026 and the Chara Dasa lord aspects the 7th house — the timing is confirmed from two independent systems.

Chara Dasa is the most widely used — each rasi's period equals the count from that rasi to its lord (1-12 years). Sthira-Brahma Dasa gives fixed years (7/8/9 by sign type) and starts from the Brahma Graha's rasi (Brahma Graha = the highest-degree candidate among the 6th, 8th, and 12th house lords).

Mandooka Dasa also uses 7/8/9 years but the sequence "frog-jumps" 2 signs at a time. Shoola Dasa uses the same math but anchors from the 2nd or 8th house (death-timing). Yogardha = (Chara + Sthira) / 2 per rasi. Varnada is longevity-focused, with the Varnada Lagna computed from natal lagna + hora lagna. Sandhya-Kala is unique — periods depend on the precise ghatika (24-minute unit) of birth.
